For this project, I created an optimized mountain–forest environment for Unity (Built-in RP, 2022.3+).
Alongside building the scene itself, I developed custom tools and shaders that improved the workflow and boosted visual quality.
The project includes:
- a large 8×8 km playable terrain with a full set of texture maps;
- two custom terrain shaders with parallax mapping and global snow controls;
- a water shader with two material variations;
- a shader system for optimized billboard trees;
- a set of photogrammetry-based stumps and rocks;
- eight background mountains;
- atmospheric effects (clouds, birds).
I focused heavily on optimization: working with LODs, reducing overdraw, creating lightweight shaders, and achieving stable performance for large open-world scenes.
